Abstract (Translated): 
The shrinking of the German manufacturing sector due to the new energy crisis is currently a hotly debated topic. The aim of this article is to contribute to this emotional debate by providing evidence on recent developments in the German manufacturing sector. The analysis of relevant data concludes that this debate is fueled by infamous German angst rather than hard facts.
