Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
This short article explains the political role of economic cooperation in times of crisis. The core argument is this: Economic cooperation is in itself a highly valuable good. It brings about mutual dependencies – and thus creates joint interests. It fosters selfdiscipline in times of conflict. Following the primacy of politics, Western countries have a strong interest in avoiding a premature termination of economic cooperation with Russia (or with other difficult partners like China).
