Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
In Germany, for many years policymakers have taken into account the importance of private equity for the revitalization of the national economy, be it for business start-ups, growth financing or the financing of infrastructure projects. Various programs and measures in place were supposed to stimulate this source of finance by private investors. Nevertheless, after nearly 20 years of efforts, the successes are modest by international standards. The causes lie in the regulatory and tax framework conditions as well as in the bureaucratic hurdles. As a consequence Germany is running the risk of losing touch with the future in important areas.
