Abstract:
; The present paper documents the result of a workshop held by the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) on behalf of Greenpeace Germany. The workshop aimed at contributing to a better understanding of the consequences of reduced economic growth resulting from ecologically motivated restrictions on energy and material flows. Four objectives were addressed: employment, social security and income distribution, the stability of the economic system, and international development. The participants - apart that their shared the view that continued economic growth could be consistent with sustainability - largely agreed that solutions independent of economic growth can be found for basic future problems.
