Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
Based on the recommendations of the Expert Commission on Integration Capability, the Federal Statistical Office has developed a new concept of immigration history in order to cover immigrants and their (direct) descendants statistically. This article provides relevant background information, explains how the concept was implemented in the microcensus and discusses the differences between the "immigration history" concept and the "migrant background" concept previously applied. It draws upon first results of the 2022 microcensus to demonstrate how the new concept is implemented. The article also places a particular focus on the use of deterministic and probabilistic approaches to deal with missing, incomplete and implausible data.
