Abstract:
Die Welt durchlebt die tiefste Depression seit den 1930er Jahren. Wieso war die Wirtschaftswissenschaft so schlecht auf dieses Ereignis vorbereitet? Welche Verantwortung muss der akademischen Profession übernehmen und welche Konsequenzen muss eine wissenschaftliche Disziplin tragen, die scheinbar so weit neben der Realität liegt wie der ökonomische Mainstream gegenwärtig? Der Artikel wirft einige Lichter auf die Gründe des Versagens, die Mechanismen der Fehlorientierung und einige daraus ableitbare Lektionen.

The world has experienced the greatest depression since the 1930s. Why was the economics profession so badly prepared for this event? With what responsibilities must the economics profession been burdened and what consequences must an academic discipline face that appears to be so much out of line with reality as the main body of economics nowadays? The paper sheds some light on the reasons of failure, the mechanisms of mis-orientation and some lessons to learn
