Zusammenfassung:
In recent years, the outsourcing strategy, in its two dimensions (national and international) is being a common practice in companies from developed countries, mainly in traditional manufacturing industries. In this paper we analyze the evolution of the strategy in these sectors over 1985-2004 and the relationship between this strategy and two of its main determinants: size and international experience. The results show that the use of outsourcing has an increasing trend. Moreover, it contrasts the negative influence of size on the use of global sourcing and the significant positive relationship between international outsourcing and international experience of the company.
